At the moment we have no clues about Rei's past since the story, in the
manga version, is
"very" different from the "anime" one. But, If i do not fail, there was a
hint in the anticipation
of a Stage (I do not remember which one) in whitch Ritsuko, trying to
strangle Rei, says:
"I am becoming like my mother" or something similar. A situation similar to
Episod 21 where we
saw the "story" of Rei I..

Very good question. But, personally, I do not think that Rei will come back
after T.I.
It would be a total modification/transformation of "Rei's character" as she
was intended in
both TV series and EoE.
