I often think that if Misato had not been wounded, what would have happened. The alternatives are...

1) sent Shinji up first but got killed in the explosion before she could go up after him

2) went up with Shinji, got him into Eva 01 earlier to help Asuka/left him & went on to NERV

3) as (2) but then went looking for Gendou & Rei.
a) either shot Ritsuko (most likely)
b) shot Gendou if not (a)
c) shot both & took Rei to Lilith (at her request)

4) went to NERV central and joined the others
5) LCL'd with the others. Last person she saw was Kaji with Pen Pen.

I don't believe she could have prevented 3rd Impact, even by self-destructing NERV. Which
scenario would you choose ;)
