My viewing of FLCL was disjointed. I only had like the
first 5 minutes the first time I tried watching. I had the
sense that there could be some interesting dynamics
building between those two. Of course, when I got to see
episode 1 in it's entirety I was just more confused than
anything else.
I guess from my perspective they lost any attempt at trying
to tell that "love story" with all the wackiness.

Well, it's the claims that fans make that really confuse
me. Nobody would ever call Sailor Moon deep. Many fans
enjoy it for the cheese factor. Ok, that's cool. Now as for
people who look at something like Noir and say it's got a
great plot, it's like, what?! It seems bad in a truly
self-evident way. If the fans said "We happen to like
chicks with guns and subtle hints of yuri romance" then ok,
I can see that. But some of the positive things said about
various shows seem to go beyond matter of opinion, like if
South Park were praised for it's "sumptuous animation."
Well, I guess nobody else gets where I'm going here so I'll
drop this line of discussion.
