well, I've only seen the first 2 episodes, (well some of the 3rd on a
fansub a year ago but that was a poor copy and I dont count it) but
I'll see if I can tackle this. the story-- near as I can tell- like in
Eva, the robots are just eye candy. the real story seems to be about
Naota and Mamimi.

INCORRECT

The appearance of Robots are from the wound that Haruko. (Pink haired crazy
alien girl) When she hit him with her Vespa. After he was hit there was a
large horn in the area. The emergence of the robots are tied into Naota's
emotional state. Like for instance when he saw Mamimi kiss Canti (the
Robot/TV headguy) the horn on his head grew to another killer robot.

And honestly the series is truely about Naota the main character and his
ascendance into Adulthood. How can I verify that? Well watching the whole
series helps. Plus you don't find out what the whole series is really about
till you see the last episode. And even then you probably won't understand
it.

she's depressed for lots of reasons- kids picking on
her, her boyfriend ran off to america and she misses him, she has no
real friends... etc.

This is slightly true and slightly incorrect. Alot of her problems tie in
with True her boyfriend leaving..but she just replaces him with Naota. And
then later with the Ta-Kun..(The Cat) Mamimi for the most part is probably
one of the most engimatic people. From what i can tell from the whole series
is that she has problems with her home there for the reason why she wonders
the street and asked Naota's dad for some bread ears. It also is the reason
why she has a little pyromanic problem. The show never really gets into what
happen to Mamimi to make act as such...or maybe I haven't watched it enough
times to get the hints.

Honestly I advise anyone that watches Furi Kuri you may have to watch the
bugger a few times before you can start to understand anything that's going
on. I think that's the reason why so many people don't like it. There is alot
of things they throw at you at once and it's up to you to really grasp some
of the meanings.
