well, I've only seen the first 2 episodes, (well some of the 3rd on a
fansub a year ago but that was a poor copy and I dont count it) but
I'll see if I can tackle this. the story-- near as I can tell- like in
Eva, the robots are just eye candy. the real story seems to be about
Naota and Mamimi. she's depressed for lots of reasons- kids picking on
her, her boyfriend ran off to america and she misses him, she has no
real friends... etc. she seems to be glomping all over Naota cause she
misses his brother and he reminds her of him. Naota it seems would be
happy to tell her to bugger off if A: she werent a potential suicide
case and B: his bro has a new squeeze in the US and he seems to feel
genuinly sorry for her. later that concern streinthens to something
more, but hwo much I'm not as of yet sure. now thats Episode 1&2, and I
cant comment beyond that- but all the wacked out stuff aside, thats a
DAMN good bittersweet teen angst story and I rather like it.
and personaly- as to the humor element- I find a crazy peach-haired
lunatic riding around on a yelow Vespa moterscooter and beaning people
on the noggin with a Rickenbaker bass gutar quite hilarious ^_^

people out there who *GASP* nave not only seen and understood eva, but
REALLY dont like it. I say each to their own ^_^
