Subject: [EVA] Manga "Defends" Eva

: ANN reports that Manga entertainment was displeased with
Newtype-USA's
: review of the Evangelion movies as they feel it gives them a great
: disservice. I haven't read the Newtype-USA artical completely, but it
does
: feel thrown together. The web address is
: http://animenewsnetwork.com/article.php?id=2794 . My main complaint
against
: the magazine being the U.S. films reviews. I bought it for anime news
and
: such. If I had wanted to read a review of "The Ring" (much more
indeapth
: than the Eva review by the way), I'd buy Entertainment weekly. Its no
: biggie, but stick to the subject at hand.

"If it is the intent of NewType Magazine to compromise journalistic
objectivity in favor of the marketing agendas of its parent company,
ADV, I sincerely hope your readership quickly realizes that in
purchasing your magazine they, in fact, are the "Sucka's."

No matter what I think of Manga's treatment of the Eva movies, giving
Amanda Winn-Lee carte blance to do what she likes with them, and how
*they* treat anime generally, I can't help think that paragraph hit the
nail squarely. Sour grapes perhaps.

Trouble is, ADV still make big bucks from Eva TV. So is that shooting
themselves in the foot?

Most of the illustrations for anime series in NT are from ADV series. I
won't be buying it again. I had hoped that NT USA was an English version
of Japanese NT, rather than just another rival to Animerica.
