I suggest everyone first read the original article
printed in NewtypeUSA:
http://forums.animeondvd.com/dcboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=19&topic_id=17094&mesg_id=17221&page=
Then read Manga Entertainment's reply:
http://www.animeondvd.com/press/manga/manga023.php
Everyone seems to only be reading Manga's letter to
Newtype and responding based solely on that...
Personally, I think Manga's reply is bad and poorly
conceived, but I think Newtype's "review" is far
worse.
Also, as questionable as Manga's conspiracy theory
remarks that ADV Films (who distributes NewtypeUSA) is
sabotaging the release of the Eva films is, remember
that ADV Films is also the company that deliberately
mislead customers by explicitly calling 'Ninja
Ressurection' (Makai Tensoh) a sequel to Ninja
Scroll'. NS is one of Manga Ent.'s best selling titles
and one of the most popular anime films in the US
period - a court issued an injunction to stop ADV
Films from advertising Makai Tensoh as a sequel to
Ninja Scroll. So it's not as far-fetched as ADV Films'
fans say it is...
I think Manga royally screwed up the EoE DVD, but I do
think they're the lesser evil in this case.
