I explain it the same way I explain Shinji + Rei couplings: somebody just can't
give up un-founded theories because they are their brainchild. You said you saw
the final scene, but you didn't mention the rest of the movie. Even so, think
about all what Eva is about, and ask yourself if such a solution would make
sense, the answer will be no.
