>Historically speaking, one of the most important series in the field.
Yeah, it should be. But it's still boring.
>It does have the ability to be SWEEPING and EPIC, which can admittedly
sap
>your energy.
Some friend told me that the first sequel was really an epic series. I
haven't seen it. It still seems boring.
>Um, they already _have_ been sequeled. Look at how many Macross
>sequels (or sequeloids) were released, not including DYRL. And how
>many Yamato series were there? And how many movies?
Of course they have been sequeled. Well, Yamato has some kind of sequel,
since it's like another story. All characters are alive again as nothing
has happened.
And you know what happened to poor Macross...
>The original work is not necessarily debased by the presence of an
>inferior sequel. C'mon, use your head - if that were true, both
>Ghostbusters and Highlander would be abandoned.
Sorry for not being as smart as you, my master...
I haven't seen both, so that means nothing to me. In fact, many sequels
I've seen are cheap, and with a vision of making it for money is really
not very motivating.
>You seem to have some weird ideas separating "fine art" from
>"commercial works" from "money-grubbing". As was pointed out, the
>Sistine Chapel was work-for-hire. Hell, even the Rothko Chapel was
>commissioned. Great works of art can be commercially motivated - it's
>not inherently against the nature of art.
And what about that? Talk about anime, boy. You've seen Cowboy Bebop
movie? Awful!!
>Define "surpassed". I'd certainly give Cowboy Bebop higher marks for
>creating a mood and sustaining it during the course of 26 episodes.
>On the other hand, I don't think there's been much since Eva that
>provokes such strong emotions (either positive or negative) in
>viewers.
I think Cowboy Bebop has a good animation, but unbelievable characters
and an extremely bad final episode. It was so predictable... Nothing to
do with Macross...
>And FWIW, I think a sequel is unnecessary. but I wouldn't put it past
>Gainax to make one anyway. If they smell cash on the wind, they'll
>jump at it. It's lucky that they're also pretty good artists, but
>they aren't above shilling crap as well.
Of course Gainax can make big bucks with Eva again. But it won't be the
same.
>Hey! What have you got against Simple Minds! Almost as good as Human
>League!
Kapum!!!
>Seriously, though, I have no idea where you're going with this part
>of the argument. Is it that anime fandom is sheep-like, or that all
>anime series eventually fade away, or that people look down on
>Dragonball?
The three of them.
>(and I'd also like to point out that I was in fact jesting - I'm not
>that big a fan of Simple Minds. I still like Human League, though.)
I like Shakira...puaj!!
