[EVA] Battle Royale

Having finally dragged myself to the video shop to rent Battle Royale,
yes there are a number of parallels between the movie and Eva.

First, on the subject of banning, the video is only rated R-15, which
means that anyone under 15 years old cannot rent it without adult
supervision.  I asked the people at the counter, and they said they were
not aware of any particular area where it had been "banned" per se, but
that individual shops may or may not carry it at their discretion
(although they said that was also not likely).

Second, the game instruction video girl is Miyamoto Yuko - the voice
actress for Asuka.  This video is also quite hilarious -- one of the
comic high points for sure.

Third, the telops that appear throughout the movie are very reminiscent
of Eva (especially TV ep25/26), even in terms of content in some cases.

Fourth, "Air" is used as background music for a couple of brutal killing
scenes (a la Asuka vs. the Eva Series in EoE).

I am sure there are other similarities/references, but that about covers
the obvious ones.
