I definately agree that she could have gone "all the way" with Shinji, and 
probably thought about it.  On the other hand, thinking about doing 
something and actually doing it are two very different things.  I often 
think about doing things that I never would or could do.  (I'll spare 
everyone the details)  That's totally different from me actually initiating 
actions to try to do those things.  Perhaps, if Shinji was VERY accepting, 
and even encouraging Misato along those lines, then yes, I agree that she 
probably would've had sex with him, or at least a very intimate evening.  I 
don't know if I'd agree that she acually went in there with that intent, 
though.  I do however agree that she probably went to Shinji to comfort him 
as much as she did to receive comfort herself.
