@Oh I agree totally there :) That scene, & the fact that Misato knows it
all already, are what really make 1.01 its own version. BTW what rank does
Misato have? Be cool if when Kaji comes, it is Misato to reveals to him the
secret of NERV, turning the TV version on its head. But it could be Shinji
that does it....
Another thing I noticed was that when Misato talks about her father issues
either with Shinji or Ritsuko, its in the present tense. She seems more
sympathetic. Her stony look at Gendou in the elevator scene seems more
noticable as a result. Could it be that Dr Katsuragi is still alive in this
continuity? Is he working for Seele, maybe as their Ritsuko/top boffin
equivalent? In Germany? That would change, fascinatingly, Misato's past &
present history & mindset. Or is Anno saving that for 2.0? ;)
Shinji seems much more headed toward the EoE Shinji somehow. He is already
rejecting Misato's friendship more than the TV series,& although some
instances he has more attitude, his sleeping out rough in an alley is more
in keeping with the depressed state he's in/can get in in EoE. At least at
this point he wants to go back eventually. 1.01 really shows more sharply
how children can be affected by abuse from neglect & lack of love. Misato
seems more on the ball analytically in this movie, both self & Shinji. I
think that may be Sadamoto's influence somehow.
On a different note, Gendou mentioned a "contract with Lilith" which was
new.
