You seem to be presenting this as fact, when (I
assume) it's only your own interpretation.

Taking the TV storytelling on its own, from how I first saw it. It is how I 
"read" the scenes.  TV Shinji was very very angry.

BTW E, from the TV alone, where did you get the impression Shinji rejected 
Complementation?  There is no irony in the final lines.  The "omedetou" 
scene reminds me of graduation ceremonies & parties. And that is what 
happened, metaphorically.  :)
