I'd say it was the right anime at the right time to drive home certain
points about people and the way they can be conceived through entertainment
in a way that would be appealing to a wide public. Other pieces of narration
have had the right stuff to do that but were released at a wrong time, or
were just not as "good" at doing it, whatever the definition of that may be.
