adversity it may seem, but your statement is a bit contradictory, your
saying that someone's moral opinion is invalid, then stating that unbiased
moral opinions are valid. No moral opinion is unbiased. We can only judge
the characters through the framework we are given, and now that the
framework of Eva is expanding, Carl is simply making an inferance on the new
material in relation to gendo's actions throughout the different
representations of eva. Albeit vulgar and humourous observations. :P
The brick walls are only put there to break down, bring your knowledge to
the table and if you've had these discussions you should be able to weigh in
full strength.
WoW, EoE amd EoTV are the same ending? of course they are if your going to
finish a story in too completely different frameworks/observations, but they
are both achieved differently. now thats a topic for deeper
introspeculation...
Interesting to say the least carl, from a biased moral observation, i still
think Gendo was trying to spare Shinji, and despite the harm it may have
caused it was for the 'greater good' (the worst phrase of human kind :)). So
he had Rei to fill the void and recreated his family albeit a very
disfunctional and counterfeit one to fill his own desires, despite all
feeling being hollow between parties..... Naoko and Ritsuko, their
sentiments to each other and towards Rei. He is a man afterall and when the
real came back (shinji) Gendo would have had to deal with all those feelings
in an outward aggression. ah the good ole complexities of Eva.
A 'Well rounded analysis of characters' would include moral observations,
its what sets Eva's Characters apart as stated before, it create intrigue
and brings forth interactions not seen before.
Gendo panic-ing about Rei is interesting, He would have known that she could
be re-created, so that scene provides insight into their relationship, along
with her reaction towards Shinji telling her of his distrust of his father,
and also the scene's involving Gendo's glasses and the like. Mentor is't
what i'd say, but neither would infatuation. They are close, i dunno, i'm a
gonna have to think a bit more on it....
Cheers.
