Other ideas get as zany as "It's Lilith (alt. Adam or Eva-01) from the 
previous iteration of the Evangelion Universe's perpetually repeating 
history" (resulting from the IMO hopelessly popular "Rebuild is a Sequel" 
Theory).

The red only comprises a limited area; it's a streak of blood or 
blood-colored fluid. It might be from Second Impact. The Angels' bodies 
degenerate (well... mostly, at least) into a blood-like fluid when they can 
no longer maintain their A.T. Fields (which seems to be another way of 
saying "crack the core, the soul escapes, no more A.T. Field, bye-bye 
body"). Maya comments on the crater filled with Sachiel's "bloody" remains 
that it reminds her of Second Impact, which is probably hinting at those red 
oceans and suggesting that Adam exploded into a giant red mess at 2I. Might 
have splattered the Moon in doing so.

But... who knows.

Yeah, comparisons to Mayumi Yamagishi and speculation that Mari is "Angelic" 
in some way have turned up.

Probably not, since they weren't critical to the story line.

There weren't any threats of a new Angel in the teaser way back, but I guess 
we'll have to wait and see. The concept of unique models for Eva-05 and -06 
has reappeared from the Proposal, along with some previously-abandoned 
design work for -01 and -00. Maybe some of the dumped Angel concept work 
will be picked up off the cutting room floor, as well.

But Ramiel's makeover makes me wonder what neat-o things they could do with 
other preexisting Angels. Okay, Shamshel's overhaul got a bit grotesque for 
my liking (I thought the original was kind of cute; must be those Asari 
comics), but... More grotesque would work nicely for Bardiel, who we really 
didn't see very much of originally, and a sentient, parasitic sticky fungus 
is one of those things that ought to be really, really gross. Zeruel was 
pretty awesome in the original, but he was a rather immobile slab of meat; 
wouldn't mind seeing what a few months in Khara's gym could do for him. 
Possibilities for Arael and Armisael are rather extensive.  We're probably 
going to see Gaghiel get owned by Eva-02 towards the beginning of the next 
movie, but, for whatever reason, I can't imagine them altering his design, 
just pumping more frames of animation into it.
