Lt.Col. in 1.0.  This ties in with a subbed verion translation I've seen.

If its correct, it adds another perspective to Misato's status & manner, as 
well as the "Reboot of Evangelion" theory.

So instead of the cute captain who earns promotion to major, whe have the 
harder more seasoned, more respected (by Ritsuko IMO) Lt. Col. Katsuragi - 
Dir. of Ops.  Perhaps the higher rank/status is what has earned her access 
to more secrets & NERV generally. It will be interesting & cool if Misato is 
given more command & takes some off of Fuyutuski & Gendou.  She would be on 
a more level status with Ritsuko, who always seemed more senior in the TV 
series.
