It does mention the artist, but I'm not sure how to
read the name: Muumin...?

I think it's described as an "Angel Buster Story".  
Shinji's mother is dead, his father is overseas, and
he's living with his father's former subordinate Kaji.
 He's going to school with Ayanami and Asuka.  There's
a new transfer student Nagisa Kaworu.
