I thought Kaworu's third dub-voice was much more tolerable, but the 
direction was still off in places.

Japanese casts don't quite seem to have the sort of problem exemplified by 
the three stages of NGE dubbing*. They've gotten NGE's cast to return year 
upon year for video games and, finally, the new movies. I think of the 
Dragon Ball series, too, which, far back as it goes (early 80s), only 
changed two main cast members (IIRC) along the way, and still gets everyone 
else to come back. (......For video games.)

Regarding MacAvery, I have no information on me.
